GAME REPORT

Dexia Drill KK Zagreb With Big Third-Quarter Run

Dexia Mons-Hainaut won for the second time in three games in EuroChallenge Group F with an 84-66 triumph at KK Zagreb on Tuesday.

Chris Finch's team led by just two points at half-time and the game was knotted at 38-38 early in the second half.

That's when the Belgian outfit, which played in the EuroCup title game last season, turned the game on its head.

Kelvin Torbert scored five points in a 10-0 run that gave Dexia a 48-38 advantage and they stayed on top for the remainder of the game.

By the end of the third quarter,  the visitors had a 60-48 lead and Finch's team went in front by 22 in the final period before settling for a 18-point triumph.

Elton Nesbitt scored 20 points for Dexia, who had three other players in double figures.

Dexia out-rebounded Zagreb 34-26.

Ante Tomic finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Zagreb, who slumped to 1-2.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes KK Zagreb vs. Dexia

Elton Nesbitt, Dexia Player:

"In the first half we looked a little reserved, but we still managed to get the advantage.  In the second half we saw our chance, we saw that Zagreb were not able to keep up with us, which we quickly took advantage of. We knew the home team had problems with injuries and we took advantage."

Andrej Stimas, KK Zagreb Player:

"We were missing many player tonoght and to play against such an aggressive team was impossible for us.  I congratulate them on their victory, and we remain aware that the only way to return is to work hard day to day..  It was obvious how much we missed our injured players."

Chris Finch, Dexia Coach:

"In the first half it was a close match and we did a good job no to make too many mistakes.  In the second half we had a problem with their zone at first but eventually we established our tempo and it was too much for them."

Denis Bajramovic, KK Zagreb Coach:

"All the ambitions and plans we had for this match could not be put into use for one reason.  Physically we were not equal to our guests, we could not keep track of their aggressive play.  In the first half we gave ourselves some hope that we could win but in the second half Dexia ran faster and jumped higher.  We still have no intention of surrender, with a little luck we can bounce back in Belgium."
