Cholet overcame a nine-point half-time deficit with a storming third quarter to beat Lokomotiv Rostov 76-72 in France on Tuesday.
The home side, with a good crowd of 3,000 showing up to cheer them on, trailed 46-37 at the break after Szymon Szewczyk's three-ball right at the end of the second quarter for Rostov.
But Cholet, getting solid contributions from many of their players, outscored the Russian team 26-11 in the third quarter and then held on over the last 10 minutes for their second straight win in EuroChallenge Group C.
Fred House buried a jump shot to give Rostov a 50-39 advantage not long after the restart, and Cholet responded by scoring 16 straight points.
They took a 63-57 lead to the final quarter and kept their noses in front the rest of the way.
House had a game-high 21 points for Rostov (1-1).
Cholet were eight of 15 from behind the arc, with Nando De Colo four of six. He had 20 points to lead the team in scoring.
The French outfit won the rebounding battle 40-35 although Rostov's Pero Antik, a star player with the Former Yugoslavia Republic of Macedonia national team, had a game-high 11 boards to go with his 10 assists.
Daniel YUSUP, Lokomotiv Rostov Coach:
"Cholet Basket is a good a team which played with confidence. They played very tough. We did not manage to stop their three-point shots. Unfortunately my team has a low percentage on three-pointers tonight. We made a good game but Cholet was better tonight."
Thomas LARROUQUIS, Cholet Basket Player:
"We never gave up because we were concentrated in our game. They were very good at three-pointers in the first half. We all played together, making passes and playing for everyone on the team. We have to keep on this way for the two last game in EuroChallenge before christmas holidays."
Erman KUNTER - Cholet Basket Coach:
"We knew that Rostov was a very good European team. They had a good start on the game and they made a lot of shots. We were more agressive on defence in the second half because they scored only 26 points. Rostov had a lot of players with experience but they do not really have a real point guard. There were positive things for us tonight like what Rodrigue Beubois did in few minutes when he came on the court. Mike Mokongo made a good game tonight like he did against Dijon. Now to be qualified we know that we have to win our next games at home against Fribourg and Sumy."
