Cholet Finish Top With Rout Of Sumykhimprom

Cholet Basket rolled to a 100-77 triumph over BC Sumykhimprom to complete an unbeaten run in EuroChallenge Group C.

With the French side having already clinched a place in the Top 16 and the Ukrainian side unable to advance, the stakes did not appear to be high.

But Cholet coach Erman Kunter felt otherwise.

"It is very important to motivate players in such a game," he said.

"We had to win this game to confirm our good results for the past two months in the French championship and in the EuroChallenge.

"It is very important to show that the team can play to a high level."

France international Nando De Colo poured in 27 points for Cholet.

Kunter is very optimistic about the future of Cholet this season in Europe.

"I think we have a chance to qualify after the Top 16 if we have a good group in the next round," he said.

"We remained serious for the entire game.

"Now we have to be focus on next French championship game against Pau-Orthez this Saturday. We absolutely need to win away."

BC Sumykhimprom dropped to 1-5 with the defeat.

"I am very happy for Cholet Basket. This game didn't mean anything because all was done concerning the result, CB was qualified and we were eliminated. We saw CB's game against Besançon last Saturday and we were very excited to play this game, because we knew that the French League level is very high. Tonight CB was better. We gave up the last quarter, I don't know why."
