Belgacom Liege showed no signs of slowing down in rolling to their third straight win in EuroChallenge Group A on Tuesday.
Christopher Hill had 18 points and both Jamar Wilson and Justin Cage poured in 15 in an 89-64 thrashing of Energa Czarni (1-2).
The Belgians raced into a 25-10 lead late in the first quarter only for Energa Czarni to claw their way back to 25-19 with a 9-0 run bridging the first and second quarters.
A Cage dunk put Belgacom on top at 48-35 at half-time and they put the result beyond doubt in the third quarter.
Leading 48-37, Liege went on a 9-2 run for a 57-39 stranglehold on the contest.
Liege out-rebounded Energa Czarni 38-29.
Bojan Brakic, Czarni Slupsk Guard:
"Congratulations to Liege. They are a very good team, they played very good defense and we made a lot of mistakes".
Xavier Collette, Belgacom Liege Guard:
"We played a very aggressive defense that allowed us to get many fast-breaks. We were able to stay focused during the whole game and this is a very important win for us"
Gasper Okorn, Czarni Slupsk Head Coach:
"First of all I want to congratulate Liege for their very good game. I think the game was decided very early. We made a little miracle in coming back to down six but we weren't able to get closer while Belgacom Liege found the energy needed to take the advantage back, this time for good. I am very disappointed with the manner we lost more than the score, and I find it irritating that some players didn't care about that"
Tom Johnson, Belgacom Liege Head Coach
" We came into this game with a lot of respect for our opponent. We knew it was a very good team, very aggressive, tough and with a good control of the boards. We needed a reaction after our disappointing loss this weekend against the leader of the championship, we had to adjust some little details that could make us stronger. We succeeded and when we play like this, at this level, we are very hard to stop"
