TEO's Third-Quarter Blitz
Buries Kosice

TEO Vilnius thumped Maxima Broker 72-49 Kosice on Wednesday night to hit the summit in EuroLeague Women Group D.

TEO, who defeated two-time defending champions Spartak Moscow Region earlier in the competition, sent out another loud message they are a force to be reckoned with and that applies particularly to the excellent Crystal Langhorne.

The USA international had 19 points and 15 rebounds in yet another dominating display by the center who only turned 22 at the end of October.

She went into the contest averaging 20 points and nearly 11 rebounds.

The game was knotted at 25-25 at half-time but when play resumed, TEO delivered a knockout punch by scoring the first nine points of the third quarter.

Jurgita Streimikyte scored on an offensive rebound and put-back and Daina Staugaitiene followed with a three-pointer.

Langhorne added a jump shot and Noel Kuin made two free throws.

Kosice tried to keep the game close and twice cut the deficit to six, but after Lindsey Wilson and Rima Valentiene drilled three-pointers to finish the quarter, TEO were on top 51-37.

They had outscored the stunned visitors from Slovakia 26-12 in the frame.

The Vilnius team pressed home the advantage in the fourth and claimed a decisive win.

Kuin finished with 18 points, Wilson had 14 and Staugaitiene 11.

TEO hit 11 of 24 shots from three-point range compared to just three of 11 for Broker Kosice.

Rutenis Paulauskas' team won decisively, despite shooting just 29.8% (14 of 47) inside the arc.

Broker Kosice had just one player in double figures and that was Linda Frohlich. The Germany international scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

TEO Vilnius improved to 4-1 while dropped Broker Kosice to 3-2.

Quotes TEO Vilnius vs.
Broker Kosice

Stefan Svitek, Broker Kosice (Head Coach):

"The shooting of Noel Kuin surpised us. We also allowed TEO Vilnius to get too many offensive rebounds. TEO Vilnius also played well in defense. These things were decisive in this game. I hope we can eliminate mistakes of this game and play better in the second round."

Leron Cohen, Broker Kosice (Player):

"If I wouldn't miss so many easy lay-ups, maybe then the result could be different."

Rutenis Paulauskas, TEO Vilnius (Head Coach):

"To be honest before the start of the season I didn't expect that we could have 4:1 record after the first round. The result pleases me and makes me believe that in the future we can do even better."

Jurgita Streimikyte, TEO Vilnius (Player):

"I think both teams were a bit nervous at the start of the game. This is why there was such a bad shooting. We were able to find players who managed to deal with their nervousity and we used them really well."
