UMMC Whip Prague To Get Back On Track

ZVVZ USK Prague picked the wrong time to travel to Russia to face UMMC Ekaterinburg.

On Wednesday, one week after Ekaterinburg's first defeat of the campaign at Ros Casares, Prague lost 103-57.

Beaten soundly at Ros Casares last week to fall to 7-1, Ekaterinburg bounced back with Poland superstar Agnieszka Bibrzycka leading the way.

Held to just four points at Ros Casares, Bibrzycka took out her anger on Prague by scoring 19 points.

She missed all five of her shots from behind the arc against Ros but against Prague, Biba drilled five of six.

Ekaterinburg effectively put the result beyond doubt in the first quarter by outscoring Prague 27-11.

Cappie Pondexter had eight points, Sandrine Gruda seven and Bibrzycka six for the home side.

Yelena Leuchanka scored her first two points at the end of the half as UMMC went to the changing rooms with a 52-35 advantage.

With 4:18 to go in the third quarter, the game had turned into a laugher with a Biba three-ball extending the UMMC lead to 71-39.

When it was over, Swin Cash had 13 points and eight rebounds for Prague, while her teammate Michaela Feranciková poured in 16 to lead the Czechs.

UMMC won the battle of the boards 46-25.

Prague are now 3-6 in Group D.
