Besiktas Cola Turka led by 11 points late in the second quarter but resilient Halcon Avenida held their nerve and battled back for an impressive road win in Istanbul on Wednesday.

The Spanish outfit prevailed 67-61 to improve to 2-1 on the young EuroLeague Women season.

Last week, the team edged Russian outfit Nadezhda by just three points.

Belgium international Anke De Mondt hit the game-winning three-pointer in that home win over Nadezhda and against Besiktas, she hit another big shot.

Her three-ball snapped a 52-52 tie with 6:13 remaining to put the Salamanca team in front for good.

Donnette Snow, who had a very impressive night with 16 rebounds, followed De Mondt's three with a basket for two of her 13 points.

Le'Coe Louise Willingham led Avenida with 15 points while young Silvia Dominguez scored 13 and grabbed six rebounds for Avenida.

Latvia international Gunta Basko also had 13 points and four assists but turned the ball over five times.

Besiktas, who fell to 1-2, got a game-high 17 points from Shay Doron.

"We started the game well and took the lead by 12 in the second quarter. But we turned easy balls over and let our opponents catch us. It was a very close game in the second half but we couldn't score enough in the paint. It seems that Hernandez worked on defending Laura Harper very well and we couldn't create an alternative solution. In addition to these, we lost Shay Doron in the last seven minutes. We are sorry that we couldn't win at home. We have to compensate this loss with a road win."

Halcon Avenıda coach Jose Hernandez:

"It was a difficult game. All players worked hard to win. We had the advantage after Shay Doron got hurt and we are happy to take the two points from Istanbul to Salamanca."
