Anna Vajda had a game-high 21 points but it wasn't enough for MiZo Pecs 2010 at Wisla Can-Pack Krakow in Wednesday's EuroLeague Women action.
Dominique Canty scored 13, Candice Dupree 12 and Jelena Skerovic 10 as Wisla claimed a 57-48 triumph.
MiZo led a very low-scoring game at half-time 24-22 but the Polish giants seized the initiative by outscoring them 21-13 in the third quarter. They then pressed home the advantage in the fourth for a nine-point triumph in front of 1500 enthusiastic fans from both Poland and Hungary.
The result has left Wisla with a 5-3 mark in Group A while MiZo are now 4-4.
Skerovic set the tone for an excellent third quarter for Wisla, burying a three-pointer just eight seconds in and then Canty and Dupree followed with baskets for a 29-24 advantage.
They didn't know it at the time, but that scoring burst put Wisla in front for the remainder of the game.
By the end of the quarter, the lead was 43-37 and though MiZo twice closed the gap to just three early in the fourth period, they got no closer.
Ákos Füzy (Mizo Pecs coach) :
"We knew that the game would be very hard but we also knew that the Polish Team had a lot of personnel problems. Thanks to their very good third quarter Wisla Can-Pack won the game. I want to thank the fans of both teams for the great atmosphere during the game. Congratulations to Wisla."
Wojciech Downar Zapolski (Wisla Can-Pack coach):
"I am very happy and want to congratulate that all my players for the very good game. We played very good defense and won but the injurry of Ewelina Kobryn is our new problem. I do hope she will come back soon."
