Halcon Avenida Late Show Beats Bourges

Halcon Avenida ended Bourges' unbeaten start to the EuroLeague Women campaign with a 77-70 come-from-behind victory over the French giants in Salamanca.

The Spanish outfit overcame a 25-point, five-assist effort from French international Celine Dumerc to post their third win in Group A.

Latvia national team guard Gunta Basko had 18 points to lead a balanced Avenida scoring attack.

Bourges, who have reached the last two Final Fours under coach Pierre Vincent, led by as many as 10 points in the third quarter but weren't able to pull away.

The game was knotted at 66-66 with 7:10 remaining after Bourges veteran Cathy Melain hit a jump shot.

Avenida went in front for good on their next possession, though, as Basko passed to Ande De Mondt and the Belgian teammate buried a jumper.

That basket started an 8-0 run and left the hosts on top 74-66 with 4:22 remaining.

A basket three-pointer extended the advantage to 77-67 with 2:34 to go and Bourges were only able to cut the deficit back to seven by the end of the game.

Donnette Snow finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds for Avenida, who were eight of 19 from behind the arc.

Basko was the best from long range, nailing four of her eight attempts.

Dumerc drilled four of six from three-point range but her season-high in scoring wasn't enough for Bourges.
