GAME REPORTFinland edged ahead of Great Britain into second place in the EuroBasket Women Relegation Round with a 60-55 triumph over the Brits in Worcester. After falling to Mark Clark's Brits in Finland in their opener and then losing in a heavy defeat at Romania, the Finns have rebounded by beating Bosnia and Herzegovina and now Britain. Crucially, Finland will now win a tie-breaker on a goal differential of +3 should the two sides finish with identical records. Niina Laaksonen had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Finland, who outscored the home side 13-6 over the last 10 minutes. Finland coach Tommi Koskinen said: "It was so important tonight we really needed to win. "We knew Great Britain would be physical so we had to give back with our own physical game. "The last game in Finland, Great Britain ran too much but today we were ready." |
