GAME REPORT

Romania Beat Bosnia and Herzegovina To Avoid Drop

Romania can celebrate retaining their Division A status after beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 78-47 on Tuesday night to claim top spot in the EuroBasket Women Relegation Round.

The win moves Romania to 4-0 and leaves Great Britain and Finland to battle over second place.

Romania had enjoyed a 101-66 rout when these two teams met in Bosnia last week but were in more subdued mood on their home court.

Even so, Bosnia were never really in this game as Romania established a lead in the first quarter and steadily built it up, leading 34-25 at half-time after a pair of free throws from Simina Mandache.

They then scored the first six points of the third quarter to complete a 12-0 run and end any chance of a Bosnia comeback.

Maria Pascalau led the Romania scorers with 21 points on seven of 14 (50%) shooting from the field - despite missing all four of her long-range attempts. The 1.92m center also had nine rebounds.

Mandache had 18 and Monika Isabela Boriga also got into double figures with 11 points.

After forcing Great Britain into 29 turnovers at the weekend, Romania were at it again, forcing Bosnia into 27 compared to 19 of their own - of which Pascalau was responsible for seven.

Anja Stupar was the only Bosnia player to get into double figures with 12 points.

Bosnia drop to 0-4 and must now plan for life in Division B.
