France won their fourth straight game and improved their chances of reaching the semi-finals of the U20 European Championship for Women with a 65-57 victory over Turkey in Chieti.
Ana Cata-Chitiga led the way for the French with 22 points and 16 rebounds while Carine Paul added 14 points as Abdou Ndiaye's team moved to 3-1 as co-leaders in the Qualifying Round Group E.
French starting guard Sarah Michel played just 12 minutes as she sat on the bench with ice on her foot.
Turkey dropped to 2-2 in the group despite Bahar Caglar scoring 19 points and Yasemin Dalgalar adding 12 points and 11 rebounds.
France made just 1-of-11 three-pointers and forced only nine Turkey turnovers. But they out-rebounded the Turks 48-34 while Akkaya Aziz's team made just 13-of-23 foul shots.
Turkey opened the game with five straight points and the rest of the first quarter was a real battle, ending with Turkey up 14-13.
Aziz's Turks led 18-15 when Paul scored five points in a 9-0 French run for a 24-18 lead midway through the second period. Caglar's three-pointer finished off a 9-0 answer for a 27-24 Turkey advantage. And the Turks were ahead 31-29 at the break.
After Melek Bilge opened the second half, Cata-Chitiga tallied eight points in a 17-4 French surge over the remainder of the third period for a 46-37 lead going into the fourth.
Paul and Cata-Chitiga continued to lead France as the cushion swelled to 55-43 with seven minutes left.
But Turkey refused to go out without a fight. Caglar drained a three-pointer and combined with Dalgalar for all 10 points in a 10-2 run to make it 57-53 with three minutes remaining. And it was 59-56 after Gizem Yavuz's three-pointer. But Cata-Chitiga converted a three-point play for a 65-56 advantage with 49 seconds to play and sealed the victory.
