side, who upset Dynamo Moscow in Russia at the weekend, maintained its unbeaten record in Group B.

Ukrainians Mavpy (1-3) led 10-7 early in the opening quarter, but the home side reeled off 12 straight points for a 19-7 advantage.

Mavpy battled back and went from trailing 30-19 to leading 32-30 with Martynas Andriukaitis' jump shot capping the 13-0 that put them in front.

Ural Great would go on another 6-0 spurt and lead 43-35 with less than three minutes remaining on a Wisniewski three-pointer, but Lithuanian point guard Rolandas Jarutis' three-ball reduced the deficit 43-40 one minute before half-time.

Ural Great then went on an 11-0 run over the next three minutes that bridged the second and third quarters to gain control for good at 54-40.

They led by double-digits the rest of the way.

Cherkaski, who were limited to just 12 points in the third quarter, went into the last stanza trailing 71-52 and never seriously threatened again.

The hosts out-rebounded their opponents, 27-17.

There was little the Ukrainian team's defense could do as Ural Great enjoyed a fine shooting night, making 30 of 40 (75%) inside the arc and eight of 21 (38.1%) beyond it.

Jarutis had a team-high 18 points in defeat.

Quotes Ural Great vs. Cherkaski Mavpy
// 15 January 2008

Jovica Arsic, coach of Cherkaski Mavpy:

"Ural Great is a good team. If we want to win such games we need to play better defense and be better in rebounds."

Rolandas Jarutis, Cherkaski Mavpy:

"We did not follow coach’s instructions. We could not play 40 minutes of defense against such good team as Ural.

Drazen Anzulovic, coach of Ural Great:

"I am satisfied with the game and result today. We had a big win in our first game in Cherkasy, defeated Dynamo Moscow this Saturday and it was important for us to continue on this level. Cherkasy made some changes, they have new coach and players and they are much stronger team now. We now guaranteed ourselves place in quarterfinals."

Andrew Wisniewski, Ural Great:

"In the beginning of the game we had a couple of lapses but then we got more focused and played much better. Especially good was our third quarter. After New Year we came to the point that we really became a team that players united as a group. I hope we will continue the same till the end of this season."
