Turkey international Ibrahim Kutluay poured in 15 points to lead PAOK to an 80-76 win over Lappeenranta in Tuesday's EuroCup Qualifying Round Group A game.
Both teams went into the contest with no chance of progressing to the next round.
PAOK were made to sweat in order to clinch their first triumph in the group.
French forward Mamoutou Diarra's three-ball with two minutes to go in the third quarter gave the Greek team the lead for good at 62-59 but they weren't able to pull away.
Instead, with one minute remaining, the Greek side only led 78-76.
PAOK's Nikolaos Kouvelas split two free-throws to make it a three-point game with eight seconds remaining.
American forward Adrian Terrell Henning then fouled Kutluay, who made one of two from the line before Henning missed a last-second three-pointer.
Henning had a game-high 22 points and hauled down nine rebounds for the Finnish side.
Both teams are now heading into the final week of Group A at 1-4.
Mika Turunen, LAAPPENRANTA:
"PAOK has made a lot of changes since we met them last time, they move the ball better and more accurately. We made a lot of stupid mistakes and fouled them a lot. It's never easy to play away games when they are so close, but PAOK was better anyway and won fairly."
Kostas Flevarakis, PAOK:
"PAOK never comes into a game not to win and although we didn't have a real motive, we wanted to play up to our potential. This was not done in the beginning, when we were totally out of focus, but fortunately enough we made it in the second half."
Nikos Kouvelas, PAOK player:
"All games can help us get better and use the experience for the league games from now on, since we will not be continuing in the next round. I hope that we have learned our lesson and we pay the necessary attention to defense, since it's our main weapon to winning games".
