Ural Cruise Past Olympias
// 27 November 2007

Ural Great reached the EuroCup preliminary round in style as they saw off Greek side Olympias Patras 77-60.

Brindley Wright top-scored with 18 points and grabbed six rebounds as Russian outfit Ural, who had won the first leg in Greece 80-66, polished off Olympias in comprehensive fashion.

With a 14-point deficit to make up going into the game, any realistic hopes Olympias had of a comeback were dashed after only five minute as Ural went 15-5 ahead to take their overall lead to 24 points.

At half-time Ural were 39-27 in front, but at the beginning of the third quarter a three-point play by Tomas Nagys reduced the score to 39-30.

However, that would prove to be the closest Olympias got to Ural as the Russians took control and finished the third quarter 63-44 in front.

Olympias tried in vain to find a way back into the game, but two free throws from Alexey Surovstev made it 77-58 before Vasileios Soulis' jump-shot saw the game finish 77-60.

Once again Ural were strong with their rebounds, grabbing 37 compared to Olympias' 27, while the Greeks also struggled with free throws making only 55.5% compared to Ural's 78.9%.
Quotes Ural Great vs. Olympias Patras
// 27 November 2007

Drazen Anzulovic, Head coach of Ural Great Perm:

"Today we opened the game very well. But if we want to be professionals, we need to continue our success. As soon as we started making changes of players, we lost our game. We must respect our opponent. They came without their main players and it served us bad, the players lost motivation."

Ioannis Christopoulos, head coach of Olympias Patras:

"Firstly I would like to congratulate Ural Great and their coach Anzulovic for qualification to the next round. Perm has a very good team with a big potential to win the Cup. It was a very tough game for us, we expected that. We came here without five of our players but this is basketball, this is our life. Now we will focus on Greek league."

Tomas Nagys, Forward of Olympias Patras:

"This game was very difficult for us. Ural Great was stronger than our team. They deserved this win."

Brindley Wright, Forward of Ural Great Perm:

"It was a very important game for us and we are glad we could qualify to the next stage of the EuroCup. We played well in the first quarter. But our coach was not satisfied with how we played, he wanted us play better in defense"
