PAOK BC survived a nervy evening in Cluj-Napoca before sealing there progress from the qualifying round of the EuroCup with a 71-65 come-from-behind win against U-Mobitelco of Romania.

The hosts quickly erased the five-point deficit from their 79-74 defeat in the first leg and

built a lead in the second quarter before the Greek side hauled them back and finally pulled away in the last five minutes.

U-Mobitelco led 21-15 after the first quarter, before scoring six unanswered points early in the second period to go 29-17 ahead.

It could have been even better had Sasa Vukas not missed two free-throws during that run.

PAOK fought back, though, and by half-time they were only two points behind at 39-37 with Dimitrios Verginis scoring nine of his team-leading 19 points in that period.

The home side were missing a lot from behind the arc, managing just three (15%) by the end of the third quarter which saw them slip 54-52 behind, seven points on aggregate.

With 3:08 gone in the fourth period only six points had been scored as Mobitelco levelled the game at 56-56.

The hosts clung doggedly to their visitors' coat-tails and with less than five minutes to play the score was tied at 63-63.

But the Greek side pulled away in the closing moments to ensure their progress.

Zoran Krstanovic scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, both match highs, in a losing cause.

"We lost a big chance. We started good, but could not keep the high tempo. Their experience decided the outcome of the game."
