Pecs Rally For Win Over Vilnius
// 15 November 2007

MiZo Pecs overcame a slow start to run out 84-75 winners over TEO Vilnius in EuroLeague Group D.

The visitors dominated the opening stages and held a 23-18 lead after the first quarter largely thanks to guard Nykesha Sales.

Sales, who won the EuroLeague Women title with Gambrinus Sika Brno two years ago, found the net early and would go on to be Vilnius` top performer with 21 points.

Vilnius remained in control at the half-time break holding a 43-36 advantage after the end of the second quarter.

Hungary international Dalma Ivanyi showed signs that Pecs were starting to edge back in the game after the point guard troubled the Vilnius defence to keep her side in touch.

Pecs had a blistering third quarter to score 36 points and give themselves a 72-61 lead with Ivanyi showing herself as the heart and soul of the team with important points scored.

Vilnius responded positively in the final period but the momentum had swung too heavily in Pecs favour.

Forward Emilija Podrug proved to be the star for Pecs and her crucial points in the fourth quarter enabled her to finish as top performer with 23 points.
