Dynamo Too Strong For TEO
// Mittwoch, 23. Januar 2008

Dynamo Moscow eased past TEO Vilnius 90-63 in Wednesday's EuroLeague Women encounter to climb into second in Group D.

The Russians, who are 6-4, will be hoping the only unbeaten team in the pool, Ros Casares, do them a favor by winning against MiZo Pecs 2010, who are (6-3) in order to seal second spot in the group and home court advantage for the eighth-finals.

Dynamo had huge contributions from Latvian star Anete Jekabsone-Zogota and American power forward Seimone Augustus with 27 points apiece.

Jekabsone connected on four of five (80%) shots from behind the arc while also dishing out four assists.

Yelena Leuchanka scored the first four points of the game as Vilnius (3-7) enjoyed an inspiring start and led 18-17 going into the second quarter.

Both teams exchanged the lead over the next seven minutes but Dynamo went into the break with a 40-33 advantage.

Dynamo played the waiting game after the break with TEO keeping the game close before eventually building a 60-46 lead with 11 minutes remaining.

Dynamo went on a 22-6 run at the beginning of the final quarter to claim a decisive victory.

Lithuania center Gintare Pretonyte led Vilnius in scoring with 14 points.

TEO had a terrible shooting night, making just three of 18 (16.7%) from long range while their opponents finished seven of 13 (53.8%).

Quotes Dynamo vs. TEO Vilnius
// Mittwoch, 23. Januar 2008

Rutenis Paulauskas, TEO Vilnius:

"We knew that Dynamo Moscow is a highly motivated team, especially at home games. They used their leaders in the best way and we failed to stop them. The start of the game was good for us but unfortunately we lost our way. We lost the third quarter because our leaders couldn’t play efficiently."

Ainars Zvirgzdins, coach Dynamo Moscow:

"I would like to congratulate my players. We looked very good in the last EuroLeague games. I'm sure that we have found our team spirit and team performance. This game was not important for TEO and I think they lacked motivation. They played well but we played better."
