Unbeaten Ros Casares Upset Teo Vilnius
// 17 January 2008

Ros Casares won 84-72 at Teo Vilnius on Thursday to clinch their ninth consecutive win in EuroLeague Women Group D.

Veteran forward Elena Tornikidou scored seven of her 18 points in the last two minutes to seal the win for Casares to keep them as one of only two teams still undefeated in the competition with CSKA Moscow also 9-0.

She finished eight of 11 (72.7%) from the field.

American center DeLisha Milton led Ros in scoring with 19 points while also dishing out five assists.

Ros threatened to blow the Lithuanians out of their own gym when building a 45-31 lead by half-time.

The Vilnius club, who recently appointed Rutenis Paulauskas as their head coach, battled and got right back into the game in the first four minutes of the second half.

They closed the gap to 49-46 on a basket by Belarus international Yelena Leuchanka.

That impressive start to the third quarter by the home side woke up Ros Casares who went on a 15-4 run.

That surge by Manolo Real's team put them in command for good.

Teo (3-6) did manage to close the game 79-70 but got no closer.

Lithuanian power forward Jurgita Streimikyte had a game high 27 points and pulled down seven rebounds in defeat.

The Spanish giants were superior shooting the ball inside the arc, they were 28 of 51 (54.9%) while their opponents were 25 of 55 (45.4%).

Quotes TEO Vilnius vs Ros Casares
// 17 January 2008

Rutenis Paulauskas, Head Coach TEO Vilnius:

"We didn't manage to do what was planned before the game. Firstly, we allowed them to score too many points in the paint, many of those with the fouls. Then we didn't stop their fast breaks and our offence was too sluggish."

Manolo Real, Head Coach Ros Casares:

"We played really well in defense. And we also did a good job in offence. TEO is a good team, they came back after the break and that made this win quite difficult."
