Ros Survive TEO Scare
// 28 November 2007

Ros Casares remained undefeated in EuroLeague Women Group D after surviving at home in Valencia against TEO Vilnius on Wednesday.

Elena Baranova scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Spanish outfit in a 75-70 triumph, a result that dropped the Lithuanians to 1-3 on the campaign.

Center Yelena Leuchanka, who was so impressive for bronze-medal winning Belarus at the EuroBasket Women this summer in Chieti, Italy, led her team with 12 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Ros Casares have designs on making it back to the title game this season as they did earlier this year in Vidnoje against Spartak Moscow Region, who beat them in the championship.

If Manolo Real's team is to make it that far, though, it will have to learn how to deliver a knockout punch.

On Wednesday night, his players stormed out to a 14-2 lead but allowed the Lithuanian team to come back and take the lead for the first time with just 2:08 left in the game on a jump shot by Nykesha Sales.

But Elena Tornikidou made a pair of free throws and Baranova drilled a jumper for a three-point lead, and Ros stayed in front the rest of the way.
