Gambrinus Sika Brno signed off from Group C in style with a 93-58 demolition of Dexia Namur in Belgium. Jana Veselá had a typically excellent all-round effort for Brno. The Czech international scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Jan Bobrovsky's team finished 8-2 in the group. Five Brno players in all ended up scoring in double-figures, led by Timea Ivkovicné Béres who had 18 points. Gambrinus will have home court advantage in the eighth-finals as a result of their second-placed finish behind Spartak Moscow Region. Dexia had a bright start, claiming a 22-18 lead by the end of the opening quarter, but Brno showed their class over the next 10 minutes, outscoring their hosts 25-10 for a 43-32 lead at half-time. Any hopes of a comeback in the third quarter were extinguished when the Czech team piled on the Belgians' misery, scoring 22 points in that frame to just five for the hosts. |
