Spartak Edge Out Kosit
// Mittwoch, 7. November 2007

Spartak Moscow beat Kosit 2013 62-60 in their opening EuroLeague Women game after Kosit's Janel McCarville missed a lay-up in the dying seconds that would have taken the game to overtime.

McCarville and Anna Jurcenkova both missed opportunities in the last 20 seconds as Spartak struggled to hang on to their slender lead.

Kosit had led 26-15 after the first quarter and 38-30 at half-time, but their advantage disappeared in the third and the teams were level at 50-50 going into the final period.

Kosit's cause was not helped when Alena Kovacova, who had contributed eight points and 10 rebounds, fouled out with five minutes remaining.

The game was close throughout the fourth quarter, but in the end Spartak prevailed, thanks largely to Ivana Matovic who added 23 points and 15 rebounds.

It was a cruel end to the game for McCarville, who was Kosit's leading scorer with 15 points.
