Brno Back On Winning Track
// 05 December 2007

Group C leaders Gambrinus Brno bounced back from their 85-76 defeat to Spartak Moscow in the best way possible - trouncing Dexia W Namur 93-66.

That loss to the reigning champions was Brno's first defeat of the Euroleague Women campaign but they emphatically got back to winning ways on Wednesday, moving to 4-1 in Group C.

Hana Machova top-scored for the 2006 champions, grabbing 19 points, while Jennifer Fleischer poured in 13 for Dexia who slip to 1-4 at the bottom of the table.

The Czech side stormed into an early lead, taking just over two minutes to pour in eight points with no reply and didn't take long to open up a 13 point advantage over Dexia before the Belgians fought back to end the period 19-11.

The visitors fought back valiantly in the second quarter but Eva Viteckova was in stunning form and scored two three-pointers in the dying seconds to leave the score 47-26 going into the third quarter.

Dexia had dreams of a stunning comeback when they sunk nine points with no reply midway through the third period but it was a case of too little too late as they went into the final 10 minutes 68-46 behind.

An incredible 16-0 run from the hosts at the beginning of the final quarter saw them open up an unassailable 86-47 advantage over Dexia.

And though Kimberley Anne Smith poured in five points to reduce the embarrassment the Czechs never looked back.
