GAME REPORT

Awesome Ekaterinburg Dominate Wisla

UMMC Ekaterinburg showed why they are being considered amongst the favourites for this season's EuroLeague Women crown with an 80-53 demolition of Wisla Can-Pack Krakow in Group B.

The Russians tore through USK Prague 85-43 in their opening fixture last week and were equally dominant this time around on the back of Polish star Agnieszka Bibrzycka's 16 points and five rebounds.

Australian Suzy Batkovic contributed 12 points and and five rebounds.

Ekaterinburg dominated from the off, but it was a 26-10 second quarter which put them out of reach.

Two free throws from rising star Sandrine Gruda started the run, which Deanna Nolan continued with a jump shot.

The American ended the half in similar fashion to give the Russians a 46-25 lead at half-time.

The Polish side rallied to edge the third quarter 18-13, thanks in part to four free throws from Marta Fernandez.

But they could add just 10 points in the final quarter as Ekaterinburg's array of stars took control.

COACH QUOTES

Game Quotes Wisla Can-Pack vs. UMMC Ekaterinburg

UMMC Ekaterinburg coach, Laurent Buffard:

"We played our best game of this season, especialy in defense but also in offense scoring 80 points. The atmoshere in the hall was fantastic and I am very happy winning. In previous games Wisla won scoring a lot of three-pointers; today they had very bed day and it helped us to controll all the game."

Wisla Can-Pack coach, Tomasz Herkt:

"My players started that game too scared and having on the oposite side one of the best teams in Europe they were not able to win. Ekaterinburg seems to be the favourite of EuroLeague 2007/2008, the the dream team! My players tried to fight but having such a low two-point percentage and no three-pointers, then we had to lose. I am only satisfied from the third quarter and some moments of the first one."
