Fenerbahce Pull Away From Lille
// 05 December 2007

Fenerbahce bounced back from their demolition at CSKA Moscow by claiming a comfortable 75-61 triumph in Istanbul over ESB Lille Metropole.

Leading for virtually the entire game on Wednesday, Zafer Kalaycioglu's team stretched a 39-35 lead at half-time to 53-44 midway through the third quarter and then turned on the style.

Nevriye Yilmaz (Fenerbahce)
Nevriye Yilmaz had 10 points and eight rebounds for Fenerbahce in the win.
After a three-pointer from Bénédicte Fombonne, the home side went on an 8-0 run, during which Turkey national team center Nevriye Yilmaz scored her first six points of the game, to open up a 62-57 advantage with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter.

The visitors from France got no closer than 12 the rest of the way.

Tammy Sutton-Brown and Cappie Pondexter each had 16 points to pace Fenerbahce, with the latter pouring in 13 of hers in the opening 13 minutes of the contest.

Fener also got important minutes late in the second quarter out of Yasemin Dalgalar.

The 19-year-old forward scored 10 of her 12 points in the period and helped extend the hosts' 26-25 lead to 37-31 by nailing a pair of three-pointers and adding a jump shot.

Yilmaz finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

The result means that Fenerbahce, who lost in a thrilling quarter-final series last year to Ros Casares, have improved to 3-2 in Group A while the French outfit has slumped to 1-4.

Small forward Geraldine Yema Robert led the way for the visitors with 12 points.
