GAME REPORT

Serbia Impressive

Serbia showed off their title ambitions by crushing Italy 70-42 in Tuesday's Group F qualifying round game.

Jelena Milovanovic had a game-high 17 points for the victors while the Italians failed to have one player finish in double figures.

The hosting nation went into the game without injured duo Nevena Jovanovic and Jelena Mitic.

It was a level first quarter but the Azzurre soon found themselves in trouble in the second with Serbia outscoring them 18-8 to go into the break with a 31-25 lead.

Serbia then pressed home the advantage in the third period, building a 57-28 advantage. The game was effectively over.

Serbia led by as many as 31 points in the fourth quarter and cruised to the triumph in front of their own fans.

Italy were a woeful 17 of 63 from the floor (26.9 %).
