Maltsi, Bourges Finish Off USO Mondeville
// 02 February 2007

Evanthia Maltsi scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Bourges Basket to a 66-53 victory at USO Mondeville and into the quarter-finals of the EuroLeague Women.

Maltsi, the Greek international who shot to international fame at the Athens Olympics where she led the Greeks into the last eight, poured in 16 in the second half when Bourges broke open a close game.

Bourges won the first game on their homecourt, 73-63.

It was fitting that the 28-year-old Maltsi stroked the three-pointer which broke a 34-34 tie with just over two minutes played in the third quarter because that jumper gave the visitors the lead for good.

Celine Dumerc and Vicky Hall followed with baskets as Bourges built a seven-point cushion at 41-34, which they used as a platform for victory.

The lead ballooned to 16 midway through the four quarter and Bourges won convincingly in the end.

Maltsi was eight of 16 from the floor, including three of six from three-point range.
