Gambrinus Bounce Back With Victory
// 09 November 2006

Reigning champions Gambrinus Sika Brno kick-started their EuroLeague Women campaign by fighting back to record a 69-63 victory against Ros Casares Valencia in Group C.

Deanna Nolan led Gambrinus with 22 points as the Czech outfit bounced back from their 87-86 defeat to UMMC Ekaterinburg with a crucial home win.

It was the visitors who started brightest and they raced into a 20-12 lead at the end of the first quarter, before Gambrinus fought back to reduce the deficit to 37-33 at the halfway stage.

Ros Casares extended their advantage in the third quarter to lead 52-46, but Gambrinus produced a thrilling final period - inspired by Petra Kulichova - to come from behind and secure a much-needed victory.

Kulichova pulled down 14 rebounds and also weighed in with 18 points for the winners, while Ivana Vecerova chipped in with 10.

Elena Tornikidou, who weighed in with 10 rebounds, scored 24 points for Ros Casares, while DeLisha Milton netted 16.

Gambrinus' Vecerova, Nolan and Sofia Young all recorded six rebounds, while Ros Casares' Elisa Aguilar also weighed in with six.
