Fenerbahce Cruise Past UMMC
// Donnerstag, 11. Januar 2007

Group C leaders Fenerbahce SK eased past UMMC Ekaterinburg 81-67 in a EuroLeague Women clash in Turkey on Thursday.

It was the visitors who started brightest however, and they stormed into a 15-13 lead in the early stages thanks to seven points from Suzy Batkovic, who finished as Ekaterinburg's top scorer with 21 points.

But Fenerbahce started to show the form which has seen them win seven of their nine EuroLeague games in the second period.

They hit back for a 51-36 lead at half-time thanks to five points from centre Tammy Sutton-Brown and eight points from Nevriye Yilmaz.

American guard Cappie Pondexter, who top scored for the home side with 25 points, added a three-pointer in the third period as Fenerbahce extended their lead to a 18 points.

The Russian side showed admirable resistance to take the final quarter 16-12, but it was ultimately futile as Fenerbahce continued their unstoppable march at the summit of Group C.
