Sophie Young and Deanna Nolan each scored 15 points as defending champion Gambrinus Sika Brno easily defeated Lotos Gydnia 66-43.
The duo of Young and Nolan were particularly instrumental in Gambrinus’ 16-0 first quarter run which put the Czech-based outfit on course for an easy win.

Nolan then followed with a three-pointer and jump shot and Young added two more field goals as Gambrinus surged ahead to lead 18-7 after one quarter.
Lotos were held scoreless over the final 6:53 of the first stanza.
The visitors got back on track in the second quarter and were able to get within five midway through, but Gambrinus answered with a 9-2 run to close the half and led 30-18 at the intermission.
Nolan’s lay-up with 20 seconds remaining punctuated the spurt.
In the second half, Gambrinus never relinquished their double-digit advantage and built their lead to 21 on a jumper by Young in the fourth quarter.
Gambrinus, after losing their opening game, are now 4-1 and in first place in Group C.
Winless Lotos shot just 27 percent overall from the field.
