| 09.11.2006 by Ian Parker Halcon Avenida recorded their first ever EuroLeague Women win with a 62-51 victory at the home of ZVVZ USK Prague on Thursday night.
Having lost the opening game of their debut season in the competition, 74-58 at home to Bourges Basket last week, the reigning Spanish champions turned in a superb fourth-quarter display to win in the Czech Republic.
In a close game, there was never more than six points between the two teams during the first three periods, and the fourth quarter began with the scores at 45-41 in favour of the hosts.
But Avenida then tore into their opponents.
Two free-throws from Nicole Powell tied the game a little over a minute into the period, and they never looked back, winning the final quarter by a score of 21-6.
Powell finished with a game-high 17 points, while Nicole Ohide added 16 and 10 rebounds for Avenida.
Michaela Pavlickova led the hosts with 13 points. |
