Mondeville See Off Wisla

USO Mondeville Basket bounced back from last week's defeat by beating Wisla Can Pack 88-81 to move second in EuroLeague Women Group A.

With the scores tied on 75-75 with 2:07 left, Pauline Jannault's three-pointer was the first of 11 unanswered points from Mondeville which decided the game in favour of the French team.

Caroline Aubert made four of four free throws during the run, which was capped by two shots from the charity stripe by Ieva Kublina which made it 86-75 with 26 seconds left.

Wisla had led, 72-67, when Jelena Skerovic sank a free throw with 6:28 remaining.

But two free throws from Marie-Laure Fleury and a jump-shot from Kublina got Mondeville back within a point before Jannault's jumper gave them a lead they never surrendered.

Kublina and Hamchetou Maiga both had 19 points to lead Mondeville, Kublina completing a double-double with 10 rebounds while Maiga was one short with nine.
Jannault and Aubert had 15 points each, with Aubert also adding 12 assists.

For Wisla, Daliborka Vilipic had a game-high 25 points, adding nine rebounds.

Jelena Skerovic had 19 points, six rebounds and 10 assists, but fouled out with 1:27 left, and Wisla certainly missed their guard as Mondeville pulled away.

Wisla conceded key fouls throughout, and were punished as Mondeville shot 27 of 30 (90%) from the free-throw line.

Spartak Moscow Region can move back above Mondeville when they play Famila Basket Schio on Thursday.
