Virtus Bologna took a giant step towards qualification for the EuroCup quarter-finals by registering a superb win at JDA Dijon to climb to the top of the Group L standings.

Kristoffer Lang's haul of 25 points was the personal contribution for the Italians, but it was a strong team performance from a side who have been wobbling of late, both domestically and in Europe.

Consecutive defeats to Akasvayu Girona, in the EuroCup, and Varese, in Lega A, meant Zare Markovski's men came into Tuesday's match with the pressure firmly on.

And they were kept in check by the hosts until the dying stages of the third quarter, before Virtus pulled away convincingly.

A 59-57 lead with 2:07 left in the third grew to a eight-point cushion (67-59) by the end of that period.

And the fourth quarter belonged to the visitors, whose offence started to click from all parts.

Guards Travis Best (13 points) and Brett Blizzard (11) - as well as forward Ntousan Tsalikis-Vouktsevits (12) - helped out Lang, who also grabbed nine boards in an inspired personal display.

The result lifts Virtus to a 3-1 record and leaves them two points above Dijon (1-3) with just two games left. Akasvayu will regain top spot in the standings if they beat BC Kalev on Wednesday.

The French hosts had 19 points from both Georgian center Vakhtang Natsvlishvili and shooting guard Abdoulaye Mbaye, while Maleye Ndoye weighed in with 17 more.
