Dijon Claim Consolation Win

20.02.2007

JDA Dijon ended their unsuccessful EuroCup Group L campaign on a high note by making a stirring fourth-quarter recovery to defeat BC Kalev in a dead rubber on Tuesday night.

With both teams out of the running for qualification, only pride was at stake at the Palais des Sport Jean-Michel Geoffroy.

It looked as though the Estonians were going to claim their first win of Round II when they started the last 10 minutes 58-50 ahead.

But their offense stalled in the fourth quarter, just as Dijon's began to fire, and the French team went on a 15-0 run to go 65-59 in front with 1:42 remaining to set up the win.

David Joseph Simon top-scored for the hosts with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Senegalese power forward Cheikh Ibrahima Koma added 16 points.

Kalev were 23-17 up at the end of the third quarter, and although Dijon pulled it back by half-time, the visitors had the better of the third quarter to establish what looked like a game-winning cushion for the fourth quarter.

Tanel Sokk and Kristjan Kangur both finished with 12-point hauls, as Kalev ended on a 0-6 record.

Dijon finished third with a 2-4 record, both of their wins coming against the Estonians.
