Azovmash Need Overtime But Finally Beat Maroussi
// 30 January 2007

Azovmash defeated Maroussi in an overtime thriller on Tuesday for their
fourth victory in Round II of the EuroCup to all but qualify for a place in the quarter-finals, and knock their Group J opponents from Greece out of the competition.

Last year's Superliga champions, Azovmash won 78-72 with point guard Khalid El-Amin pouring in 20 points.

El-Amin has been one of Azovmash's most valuable players, but he was almost the pariah in this game after his three-point attempt was off target with 24 seconds to play and the game knotted at 61-61.

Maroussi held on for a final shot, but Konstantinos Kaimakoglou missed with his potential game-winning three-ball and the game went to the extra period.

That's when Bosnia-Herzegovina international Kenan Bajramovic took over.

He scored the first four points of the overtime to put Azovmash in front for good.

Konstantinos Charalampidis made a pair of free throws to trim the deficit to 65-63, but Panagiotis Liadellis replied with a three-pointer as the Mariupol side stayed in front the rest of the way.

El-Amin led the scoring parade on five of 10 (50%) shooting from the floor, and he was a perfect eight of eight from the line.

From the arc, the 1.78m playmaker was two of four (50%).

It was from long distance where the Ukrainians really did a lot of damage, making nine of their 16 attempts (56.2%).

Renaldas Seibutis and Donya Abrams each had 17 points in defeat.
