GAME REPORTAnton Gavel's 27 points helped put Slovakia's Division B campaign back on track as they beat Albania 101-88 in Spisska Nova Ves.
After opening their Group B qualifying with a triumph over Great Britain, the Slovakians struggled from long range (four of 23 for 17%) and crashed to defeat at the Netherlands.
On Saturday, the Albanians were level at 26-26 at the end of the first quarter but Slovakia turned on the style over the next 10 minutes and led 53-43 at half-time.
Albania got 23 points from Gerti Shima but it wasn't enough as Milan Cernicky's used their half-time advantage as a launchpad for victory.
Slovakia were far more efficient from the arc in the triumph over Albania, making nine of 21 (42.9%), with Gavel three of five (60%) and Daniel Novak was three of six (50%).
Albania are now 0-2 after falling to Belarus in their first game. |
