Croatia put together a superb display to send Poland to a humiliating 74-54 defeat in EuroBasket Women qualifying action on Wednesday.
Poland had no answer for a rampant Croatia who dominated the contest from start to finish.
The win leaves Croatia in second place in Group C behind Germany while Poland are in third place with the same record (3-2) as Croatia.
Croatia stormed into the lead right from the opening buzzer with a 16-2 run.
Poland rallied in the second quarter and came as close as four points, but Croatia put the result beyond any doubt in the third period.
Poland opened the quarter with a field goal, but Croatia produced an 18-0 run to open up a 58-36 lead.
Trailing by 25 points going into the fourth quarter, there was no way back for Poland.
Emilija Podrug led Croatia with 17 points and 9 rebounds, while Sandra Popovic chipped in with 15 and 8.
Croatia's win sets up an intriguing final day's play in which Croatia, Poland and Germany all have a chance to win the group.
Croatia face group leaders Germany while Poland travel to Norkopping to play Sweden. |
