Dynamo Turn Defensive Screws On Lietuvos Telekomas
// 02 November 2005

Dynamo Moscow recorded their first win of the Euroleague Women campaign this season when they defeated Lietuvos Telekomas 52-43 on Wednesday evening.

Russian national team star Tatiana Shchegoleva was on top form for Dynamo with 10 points scored and 12 rebounds, with her points haul matched by Alexandra Latysheva.

Her team-mate Natalia Vodopiyanova hauled down 13 rebounds but only managed six points in here 34 minutes on court.

Dynamo, beaten 73-64 by French side Valenciennes last week, immediately took the game by the scruff of its neck and took the first quarter 18-7.

The second quarter was even more emphatic with the Russians comfortably in control at the interval, leading 37-13.

Lietuvos Telekomas had got off to a good start last week with a 65-61 win at the expense of Slovakia's K Cero ICP.

And although they managed to cut the deficit in the final two quarters, which they won 15-9 and 15-6, Dynamo easily held them at bay to deny them a second successive victory.

Katie Douglas, the heroine of last week's win, was impressive again in a losing cause for the Lithuanians as she claimed a game-high 19 points, along with seven rebounds.

The American converted five of 13 from inside the arc and one of four from three--point range, while managing six of nine from the charity stripe. However, Douglas' performance was scant consolation in a poor offensive team performance from Lietuvos Telekomas.

The Lithuanians shot 15/65 from the field and a miserable 1/17 from behind the three-point line.
