BC Volgaburmash may be defending champions and FIBA World titleists but they were no match for MiZo-Pecs on Thursday in a EuroLeague Women clash.

The hosts from Hungary ran out 80-68 winners in a performance largely built on a third quarter which they won 26-14.

Ann Wauters top scored with 19 points for the defeated Russians with Maria Stepanova adding 18 and hauling down eight rebounds for good measure, Edwige Lawson added 10 points but the visitors from Samara were comfortably seen off by their hosts.

Bulgarian center Albena Branzova with 16 points was the heroine, belying her 34 years to pace the winners.

She was six of seven on the inside and also added a three-pointer and converted her only free throw from the charity stripe.

Amra Dapo (15), Vickie Johnson (12) and Dalma Ivanyi (10) also posted double-digit scores.
