Johnson Keeps Mondeville At Bay

Mizo-Pecs eclipsed USO Mondeville Basket 76-67 in a EuroLeague Women Group A match on Thursday.

It was a great effort from the Hungarian side who got off to a slow start when they lost the first quarter 25-16 with Grace Daley getting 12 of her 19 points.

Dalma Ivanyi (MiZo-Pécs)
Dalma Ivanyi had a season-high 14 assists for Pecs
MiZo-Pecs then hit back strongly in the second quarter which they took 20-12 to reduce the gap to a single point.

The second half of the encounter saw the hosts wear down their French visitors and they took the lead in the third quarter which they took 21-15.

The game was still wide open but Vickie Johnson pulled the home side clear to 74-62 and despite a late rally from the Frenchwomen the game was won.

Johnson's 19 points made her joint top scorer with Daley in the game while Damla Ivanyi was also hugely impressive with 14 points and six rebounds, all defensive, for the victors.

Albena Branzova also hit double figures, pouring in 16 points.

MiZo-Pecs take their record to 8/1 while Mondeville slip to 4/5.

Aurelie Bonnan (14) and Amelie Pochet (10) also contributed double digit scores for Mondeville.
