Montanana Leads Ros Casares To Victory
// 14 December 2005

Spanish international Anna Montañana erupted for 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Ros Casares to an important 71-60 triumph at USK Praha.

Taking on a confident Czech team which had won its first game of the EuroLeague Women Group A campaign last week, Ros Casares clinched its second straight European triumph and fourth overall.

Brazilian national team center Alessandra weighed in with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Ros Casares, while Elaine Powell scored 13 and grabbed seven boards.

USK Praha won 81-73 over Dexia Namur last time out, and they were looking for a victory in a bid to boost their chances of advancing to the next phase.

It all began to go horribly wrong with 1:33 to play in the opening quarter when Montañana buried her only three-pointer of the contest for a 17-10 lead.

The shot sparked a 15-0 run. With 8:46 to play in the first half, Ros Casares had a 29-10 advantage and Lubor Blazek's team had a mountain to climb.

They battled, and closed to within 10 points, but Ros Casares had too much and stretched the advantage to 47-29 at half-time.
