Valdemoro, Samara Destroy Ros Casares
// 23 November 2005

Amaya Valdemoro faced Ros Casares for the first time on Wednesday as a BC Volgaburmash player and helped blow-out her former team in the EuroLeague Women. The Spanish international scored 15 points as Volgaburmash won the Group A encounter 81-46.

"I have only one word on the game - it was a disaster," said Ros Casares coach Esteban Albert Guerola. "This season, we lost many star players and played with youngsters."

The Samara team stormed out to a 22-8 first-quarter lead, with Valdemoro scoring five of her points, and stayed in command the rest of the way.

Ann Wauters also started strong, scoring the game's first six points. She finished with 12 points while Olga Arteshina had a game-high 16 for the
Russians.

Volgaburmash coach Igor Grudin was satisfied with his team's victory, their fourth in five games.

"The game was good," he said. "Our girls looked confident. I'm happy about the result."

One look at the boxscore and it is easy to see why the Russians were such big winners.

They out-rebounded Ros Casares 50-23. Maria Stepanova had 14 of the hosts' rebounds to go with her 10 points.
