Volgaburmash Too Strong For USK Praha
// 15 November 2005

USK Praha fought hard but caved in against defending champions BC Volgaburmash in the second quarter of their EuroLeague Women's clash on Tuesday evening.

Ann Wauters had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the 78-62 win, which improved the Samara team's record to 3-1 in Group A.

Sviatlana Volnaya's three-pointer with eight minutes and 48 seconds to play in the first half gave the Czech team their last lead of the game at 16-14.

Volgaburmash's Maria Stepanova was off target with a jump shot, but Wauters stole the ball from Volnaya and then made a lay-up to pull her team level and start a 12-0 run which put the visitors in front for good.

Another Wauters basket gave Volgaburmash their biggest lead of the first half at 56-36, and there was no way back for the home side, who have yet to win in four games.

Volnaya led Praha with 18 points.

Edwige Lawson (14), Olga Arteshina and Stepanova (both 13) also hit double figures in points for the winners, while Ilona Korstin and Amaya Valdemoro each weighed in with nine.

Korstin pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
