Maddaloni Beat Injury Hit Dorsten
// 02 November 2005

An injury depleted Dorsten suffered their third defeat of the EuroCup Women on Wednesday night, going down to Italian visitors Coconuda Maddaloni.

Anna-Christine Görg, Nicole Johnson, Kaisa Höök and Niina Laaksonen all played with niggling injuries while Lubica Schultze was unable to suit up.

Despite playing with a decimated front line, Dorsten began the game well, opening with a 6-0 run.

In a low scoring first quarter Maddaloni quickly caught up with Dorsten and the scores were tied 12-12 after 10 minutes.

An 8-2 run by Maddaloni gave the visitors a small advantage at halftime, 30-39.

Dorsten managed to stay within striking distance in the third, but the final period proved to be the decisive.

Dorsten opened the fourth quarter with 2 consecutive jump shots to cut the deficit to just 2 points, 50-52. Howver, as the game wound down, Dorsten's injury problems began to tell and they faded badly.

The Germans committed seven turnovers in the final 8 minutes and Maddaloni took advantage. The visitors outscored Dorsten 20-7 in the last phase of the game to complete a 62-75 win.

Spanish international Rosi Sanchez finished with 19 points and 8 rebounds, while Anna Vicenzetto added 15 points for Maddaloni, who completed their first win of the EuroCup Women season.
