Galil Elyon Play It Straight, Win Overtime Thriller
// 09 November 2005

Jason Straight's lay-up with two seconds remaining in overtime lifted Galil Elyon to a 102-100 triumph over Dynamo Moscow Region on Wednesday in one of the top games of the competition so far.

Nikita Morgunov had just made a pair of free throws with 14 seconds to play in the extra period to take his points tally to 32 for Dynamo, but Straight, who poured in a game-high 35 in the contest, scored at the other end just before time expired as Galil claimed their second win in three games.

As thrilling finishes go, this was one of the best.

Galil led 90-88 and had the ball with 15 seconds to play but lost possession with the shot clock winding down as Yogev Ohayon turned the ball over.

Sergey Demeshkin, Dynamo's 1.96m guard who had just scored his team's last bucket to pull them to within two, then tied the game at 90-90 on a buzzer-beating lay-up and sent the game to overtime.

Once the game was in overtime, the two sides found themselves level on points five times.

Dynamo actually took a 98-96 lead after Samuel Hoskin's lay-up with 1:12 left in overtime, but 11 seconds later and Straight's lay-up brought his team level again.

After Lior Eliyahu's two free throws had put Galil back in front with 35 seconds left, Morgunov was fouled by Uriel Marko and the long-time Russian international sank both attempts from the free throw line.

But Galil's Straight, well, went straight to the basket and stole the show at the end to send the Galil home fans and his team-mates into a frenzy.
