Dynamo Moscow Region saw off a determined Galil Elyon Golan 99-82 on Tuesday to clinch a place in Round II of the EuroCup and also eliminate the visitors from Israel.
Last week's narrow defeat at DKV Joventut had put Dynamo in an uncomfortable position of needing to win their final Group H contest for Galil, who won the first game between the two sides, would have leapfrogged above them in the table with a victory.
Galil looked as if they might just spring the upset when Jason Straight's three-pointer put them in front at 29-21 late in the first quarter.
The Russian team then exploded into life with a 22-4 surge, capped by successive baskets from Samuel Hoskin, to lead 42-33 lead with four minutes left in the first half.
After leading 48-36 at half-time, Dynamo reeled off the first five points of the third quarter to take command.
Igor Zamansky's three-pointer and two Audrius Giedraitis free throws took the advantage to 53-36, a lead which proved far too much for Galil to overcome.
Valeriy Dayneko, who was a perfect three of three from the arc, paced Dynamo Moscow Region with 22 points, while Zamansky had 19.
Straight had a game-high 24 points for Galil.
