Nancy avenged their demolition in the first round of the EuroCup by trouncing Vertical Vision Cantu 80-57 in France.

Jean-Luc Monschau's team were brushed aside 97-76 in the first Group C meeting between the two sides, but this time the French were superior in every regard.

Tariq Kirksay's basket at the end of the first quarter gave the hosts a 21-13 lead and they stretched the advantage to 37-27 with a three-pointer from Marques Green with 37 seconds left in the first half.

Green scored a game-high 26 points and was six of eight from behind the arc. If Cantu had designs on getting back in the game, the French had other ideas because they took complete control from the start of the second half.

Nancy outscored the visitors from Italy 15-3 for a 55-30 stranglehold on the game with 5:13 still to play in the third quarter.

By the end of the frame, Nancy led by an even bigger margin at 66-35 and victory was assured.

The victory could be the turning point in the season for Nancy.

Monschau said: "This game will give confidence to my team.

"This is one of my biggest games with the team of Nancy.

"Qualification or not, we have been back from 21 points against an Italian team. With three wins, we could be able to qualify."

Nancy now have two wins from four games, but for Cantu, the opening week victory must seem like a long time ago as they have now lost three straight to fall to 1-3.

Pino Sacripanti, the Cantu coach, said: "We have played our worse game of the year.

"Too many players did not have a good day."

Kebu Stewart must be wondering what he has to do for Cantu to win. He finished with 19 points and 16 rebounds.
