Cantu back to winning ways

Nicolas Mazzarino poured in 24 points as Vertical Vision Cantu showed signs of life in the EuroCup with a 99-72 triumph over Dexia Mons-Hainaut.

Cantu, who had not won since the opening week against Nancy, started strong on Wednesday night. They led 31-19 by the end of the first quarter, and then stamped their authority on the clash over the next 10 minutes to hold a commanding 55-37 advantage.

The Belgians, who could have clinched a place in Round II with a win, tried to fight back but to no avail.

Mazzarino was 10 of 14 from the floor and four of seven from three-point range.

Kebu Stewart had 16 points and nine rebounds in the victory.

BC Siauliai and Dexia are top of Group C with three wins and two defeats, while Nancy and Cantu are right behind them with 2-3 marks.

Two places from the group for Round II are still up for grabs. Cantu host Lithuanias Siauliai in their final game next week while Dexia host Nancy.
