Dynamo St Petersburg delivered a first-quarter knockout punch against French visitors Cholet on Tuesday in an 86-57 triumph in EuroCup Group A.

Dynamo, last year's FIBA Europe League champions, had already booked their place in Round II but that did not stop them from reeling off the first 13 points of the game.

Vladimir Veremeenko scored seven of his game-high 16 points in that early run, and he also added the last basket of the first quarter to give Dynamo a 28-9 advantage.

They were never challenged after.

Fotis Katsikaris, the Dynamo coach, will look to finish Round I with a sixth consecutive victory next week at home to Romanian outfit CSU Asesoft.

Cholet, who were 1-3 before the game with only a slim chance of reaching Round II, were eliminated.

They will finish their campaign against Azovmash, who won 77-69 at Asesoft on Tuesday.
