Cem Akdağ (Turkey Coach): We played a rapid and dynamic game against Russia. First of all it was an honour for us to play a balanced game against such a team and against a country which has won 22 European Championships for Women. In the beginning of the game we had problems in rebounding.
To solve the problem we returned to zone defence and fortunately the Russian shooting average was low. However, our shooting average was insufficient too. Şebnem scored just one from seven shots and Şaziye only 3-11. But this is our second game. We are fatigued. But we are well prepared for this tournament. I have a message to our rivals - we have been preparing stamina and physical training for 2 and half years. So we won’t get tired in the next matches. We will play as rapid and aggressive as we have played today.
Aylin Yıldızoğlu (Turkey): We want to finish the European Championship with the best possible ranking. We have been working hard for this tournament like yesterday we struggled very much. We want to continue like that and finish with a good final placing.
Igor Grudin (Russia Coach) I congratulate the Turkish team. First of all I am satisfied that we won the game - it was very exciting. Turkey played very aggresively towards us but in spite of this we tried to stay calm. I wish the best luck for the other teams but I hope to play against Turkey again in the final.
